Adolescents living with long-term health problems (films with English subtitles)


Six adolescents share their experiences being young and having long-term health problems in four films published on YouTube. In these films, you will meet adolescents with different disabilities and issues. They have participated in the project “Youth Cooperation and Coping” and participated in a group-based counseling program at Akershus University Hospital.

Film 1: «Strong-willed adolescents with long-term health problems»
In this film, adolescents share their experiences being young and dealing with long-term health challenges

Film 2: «Together, we are incredibly healthy»
In this film, the adolescents describe how important it was to meet and talk with others in a similar situation, even though they were a little skeptical at first

Film 3: «Together, we are more self-aware»
In this film, the adolescents share some of their experiences with what happened in the group

Film 4: «Together, we see new opportunities»
In this film, the adolescents describe the changes they have made in their everyday lives after having participated in the program


The project «Youth Cooperation and Coping» was conducted in 2012-2014, led by the Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Learning and Mastery in Health (NK LMH). The counseling program was developed and tested at the Center for Health Promotino, Akershus Universith Hospital, project leader: Karen Therese Sulheim Haugstvedt, PhD.
